In the episode of "Hawak Kamay" aired that night, Emong (Zaijan Jaranilla) was caught by Lorry (Andrea Brillantes) talking to himself about a "crush." Unkown to Lorry, Emong was referring to her.
Forced by Lorry to reveal his crush, Emong instead pointed at a poster of Bernardo and her onscreen partner Daniel Padilla, saying that he was talking about the teen actress.
Just moments after the scene aired, "Si Kathryn Bernardo" -- Emong's actual words -- zoomed up to become one of the top local trends on Twitter, and later, worldwide.
Fans of "Hawak Kamay" and Bernardo aired their amusement by the scene, with a number expressing no surprise that the "Got to Believe" star easily became a trending topic, thanks to her legions of supporters active online.
"Hawak Kamay" airs weeknights after "TV Patrol," and also stars Piolo Pascual, Iza Calzado, Nikki Gil, Xyriel Manabat, and Yesha Camile.
