Kathryn Bernardo Releases New Song - 'You Don't Know Me'

Kathryn Bernardo, teen superstar and sought-after product endorser, can add recording artist to her list of achievements with the upcoming release of her debut album.
The 18-year-old actress, who is dubbed local showbiz's "Teen Queen," released on Thursday the official lyric video of one of the tracks from her upcoming record.

Titled "You Don't Know Me," the song by Marion Aunor is about a blooming relationship that fails to take off because of the lack of effort of one of those involved to genuinely get to know the other.

According to Bernardo in an earlier interview, her album will contain six songs with a number of bonus tracks. She finished recording the tunes in August.

"Tutok talaga ako dito," Bernardo said at the time. "Binigay ko ang 101% ko dito sa album na 'to, so sana abangan niyo at magustuhan niyo."

She cited as inspirations American pop stars Taylor Swift and Ariana Grande. Locally, Bernardo said she considers Sarah Geronimo and Yeng Constantino as her music idols.

Bernardo has already recorded a song before: "Ikaw Na Nga Yata," which is featured in the local airing of the Korean series "Pretty Man." It is unclear, however, if it will be one of the tracks in her debut record.

Asked why she decided to come up with an album, Bernardo said: "Kasi, of course, ilang years na sa teleserye. Gusto ko rin naman maging open sa iba-ibang mga puwede kong gawin. Like, pag may chance so hosting or sa singing, [gagawin ko]. Para hindi ka lang sa isang genre."

Bernardo was last seen in the box-office hit "She's Dating the Gangster," opposite Daniel Padilla. On television, the two last co-starred in the primetime series "Got to Believe," which concluded in March.
